Coconut

Every auspicious rite in Sanatan culture is incomplete without coconut. It is considered a symbol of purity, auspiciousness and auspicious wishes. Do you know how the coconut originated? A mythological story is told behind it. In ancient times, there was a king named Satyavrat. He was a very religious and benevolent ruler. The biggest wish of his life was to go to heaven, but going to heaven was not in his power. At the same time, sage Vishwamitra was doing penance. For penance, he left all his family and family, only to pay attention to God. On the other hand, his family was suffering from many deprivations. Then King Satyavrat served the sage's family and provided him with everything he needed. After a long time, when sage Vishwamitra came home, his family told about the king's service work. Vishwamitra went to the king's court and thanked him. Rishi Vishwamitra was a perfect man. The king also knew this. Therefore, King Satyavrat asked for a boon to bring him to heaven. This task was not impossible for the sage. He prepared a path for the king from his tapoble that leads straight to heaven. The king was very happy to see this. He departed for heaven, but on reaching there, Devraj Indra pushed him again towards the earth. The king was deeply saddened by this behavior of Indra. Vishwamitra was also angry, but later thought of a solution. He tried to create a new paradise with the power of his penance. This heaven was between earth and the real heaven. The sage created heaven. But the sage also had a concern. Being situated in the universe, it was naturally threatened. The new heaven could have been destroyed by this. Vishwamitra then built a pillar for this heaven and this gave support to heaven. It is believed that later that pillar transformed into a tree and the head of King Satyavrata became its fruit i.e. coconut.
